What Hurts The Most

“What Hurts The Most” Tops Country and AC Chart

Hurts So Good: What has Rascal Flatts accomplished that major adult/country crossover acts like the Eagles, Alabama and Lonestar never have? The trio gains the distinction of having the first song by a group to top both the Nielsen Broadcast Data Systems-driven R&R AC and R&R Country charts. That’s a dry spell of more than 45 years since Billboard introduced its Adult Contemporary list in 1961, which ends with “What Hurts the Most” climbing 3-1. It led the Nielsen BDS-fueled country chart for four weeks in April. “Hurts” is only the fourth title by any artist during the Nielsen BDS era — which began at country in 1990 and Adult Contemporary in 1993 — to top both charts.
